Staff at China’s most successful soccer club, Guangzhou Evergrande, have been disciplined after pulling a MacGyver.

Last week, they sprang into action when star player Zhang Linpeng’s shirt was bloodied during a match against Tianjin Quanjian. Match officials ordered him to change.

When a replacement couldn’t be found immediately, Evergrande employees found a shirt with the number 15. They nimbly taped over the number one, leaving the number five –  Zhang’s number – visible.

The player eventually changed into a proper shirt. But AFP reported that the staff, including the club’s general manager, were fined for “seriously damaging the club’s brand.”
